Vaccination Clinics

Dog vaccinations

Dog vaccinations help protect your pooch from a number of diseases and top up their immunity against disease or infections. If a vaccine goes overdue, it may lead to your dog needing to restart a course. Our vets can help you keep tabs on vaccinations, advise on local diseases and let you know about the best ways to keep your dog safe and healthy.

Additional dog vaccinations offered include:

  • Distemper
  • Hepatitis
  • Parvovirus
  • Lepto
  • Kennel Cough

Puppy vaccinations

Help to give your pup immunity to various diseases and make sure they are safe as they grow into young dogs with important puppy vaccinations. For puppies, a course of vaccinations starts at eight weeks old. Our small but knowledgeable team is able to give vaccines for many of the same diseases as listed for dogs.

Cat & Kitten Vaccinations

Cats should have an annual vaccination appointment each year to keep their immunity topped up and it is a great chance for a general health check when you bring in your cat to Tender Paws. We are always on hand to provide vaccinations against Flu Enteritis and Leukemia. Kittens need a course of vaccinations from nine weeks and a further two injections three weeks later.

Rabbit vaccinations

Protect your rabbit against nasty viruses which pose a threat to bunnies, including myxomatosis and rabbit haemorrhagic disease (RHD1 & RHD2).

Pet microchipping is a small and safe procedure where a tiny chip, about the size of a rice grain, is implanted under your pet’s skin between the shoulder blades. The microchip carries a unique identification number that can be read by a scanner and allows lost pets to be easily identified and reunited with their owners.

Microchipping ensures pets’ safety and reduces the chances of them getting lost and it has been a legal requirement for dogs to be microchipped since 2016, while cats will need to be chipped also as a legal requirement from June 2024.

For any animal prescriptions, a six monthly vet check is required. This may be more often depending on which medication is needed. Medicine regulations require that your pets are seen by a vet regularly to ensure that they have current knowledge of their health status, in order to provide the correct prescription medication, either in tablet or via a written prescription. As your local independent vets, we must abide by these regulations.

Flea Treatment & More

The Tender Paws team can advise on all options available for the treatment of fleas, worms and ticks as well as the preventative measures you can take. We will review with you the best ways to control fleas in your house, and on your pet.

Our experienced team can also advise on what to do should you find a tick and easy ways to remove them. Regular flea and worm treatment is crucial for a happy and healthy pet, so our team is more than happy to give you all the information you need.

Dental Care

Many dogs and cats can have signs of dental disease by the age of two, but by learning how to brush their teeth, taking on board dietary advice and finding great dental products you can take better care of your pet’s teeth.

Pet Diabetes Clinic

Tender Paws are here to help diabetic dogs and cats manage their condition. We can help you learn all there is to know about diet, exercise, insulin and more.

Our team will give you the confidence to manage your pets diabetes, monitor their wellbeing and what the tell tale signs are when something isn’t right. Diabetes in pets can be daunting, but we are here to help.

A: Get your pet used to the carrier and come in to see your local vet. Registered with this vet a couple of weeks ago and they were so attentive to our new dog, George, and made us feel very welcome giving us lots of advice as new owners. We have just received this morning a lovely card in the post welcoming us. What a nice touch!

My poor, little Willow. I miss her so much already and my heart breaks more and more everyday without her. Anna P and Daisy, they Showed my Willow real love and emotions, made her comfortable with heat pads, blankets, cuddles and strokes and really did put Willow in the heart of everything they could. Even filled her belly till the very end (nothing would cheer willow up more than food). I could see they found it hard also as it was such a sensitive subject for any human being, however they kept professional, direct and most important of all they made me and my partner feel comfortable leaving Willow in their hands. We appreciate the hard work and strength you all have working in such a rewarding but yet such difficult career. Our gratitude is great. Thank you again Daisy and Anna.

It is inevitable at some point you have to say goodbye to your beloved pet and sometimes that requires some intervention. Everyone at Tender Paws were absolutely lovely. They were so kind and treated our beloved dog of 14 ½ years in such a dignified manner. They provided us with a quiet place to spend the last moments and were very supportive. We were given time alone to say our final goodbyes and they carried out our wishes. This is always the hardest part of dog ownership but we were comforted that the team at Tender Paws were sharing this moment with us.

Sadly on Friday 4th August we, with the full support of this vets, had to make the very painful decision to put down our dear little dog. As you can imagine we were dreading it and although it was a heart wrenching experience, Tender Paws took the time and consideration to make his passing the best it could be. We were shown into a private special little room with a garden view. Judy the vet came in and explained step by step the procedure and reiterated that we were making the right decision. We even were able to settle our bill in the same room. Our little Bernard died in our arms quietly and peacefully and at all times the utmost dignity and respect was shown towards him and us. Since our return to the UK we have been with Tender Paws and I cannot recommend them highly enough. All members of staff are professional, caring and warm people. Thank you to them all for making a terrible moment so much better than we ever expected.
