Located in West Wickham near Bromley, as your helpful local independent vet we can also assist with medication and advise on topics such as spaying and neutering. Pop in to our reception and speak to our friendly team for any advice.
Dog vaccinations help protect your pooch from a number of diseases and top up their immunity against disease or infections. If a vaccine goes overdue, it may lead to your dog needing to restart a course. Our vets can help you keep tabs on vaccinations, advise on local diseases and let you know about the best ways to keep your dog safe and healthy.
Additional dog vaccinations offered include:
- Kennel Cough
Help to give your pup immunity to various diseases and make sure they are safe as they grow into young dogs with important puppy vaccinations. For puppies, a course of vaccinations starts at eight weeks old. Our small but knowledgeable team is able to give vaccines for many of the same diseases as listed for dogs.
Cat & Kitten Vaccinations
Cats should have an annual vaccination appointment each year to keep their immunity topped up and it is a great chance for a general health check when you bring in your cat to Tender Paws. We are always on hand to provide vaccinations against Flu Enteritis and Leukemia. Kittens need a course of vaccinations from nine weeks and a further two injections three weeks later.
Protect your rabbit against nasty viruses which pose a threat to bunnies, including myxomatosis and rabbit haemorrhagic disease (RHD1 & RHD2).
Pet microchipping is a small and safe procedure where a tiny chip, about the size of a rice grain, is implanted under your pet’s skin between the shoulder blades. The microchip carries a unique identification number that can be read by a scanner and allows lost pets to be easily identified and reunited with their owners.
Microchipping ensures pets’ safety and reduces the chances of them getting lost and it has been a legal requirement for dogs to be microchipped since 2016, while cats will need to be chipped also as a legal requirement from June 2024.
For any animal prescriptions, a six monthly vet check is required. This may be more often depending on which medication is needed. Medicine regulations require that your pets are seen by a vet regularly to ensure that they have current knowledge of their health status, in order to provide the correct prescription medication, either in tablet or via a written prescription. As your local independent vets, we must abide by these regulations.
